Please join us Holiday Food basket Event on Dec. 19th 2015
Lions Club of Berkeley Annapurna with other local Lions Clubs West Berkeley, Albany, and Berkeley Lions join this years event organized by Berkeley Firefighters Random Acts (BRFA), Berkeley Firefighters Association, the Berkeley Fire Department, San Francisco Fire Credit Union. Every year they send more than 800 bags of foods and gift to seniors and low-income residents of Berkeley , Albany area. This year too they have invited us to join to assemble the bags , gifts and hand it over to needy people. Please join us there at 9 AM ओ Dec 19 to start bag assembly. We get in a line and fill bags with food. Some Lions come at 8 AM to help set up. Then, the deliveries usually start at 10 AM. There is a light breakfast cooked up by Station 2’s firefighters. It is located at 2029 Berkeley Way, Berkeley, CA 94704.
“So many seniors in our Berkeley community are in need this holiday season,” said Dori Tieu , interim president of BFRA in her email to club President Dhruva Thapa, so club instantly accepted their offer to help on that event. For all our members please be there on time and for deliveries, you can decide how many bags to deliver per family or group. It takes about one hour per 5 to 10 deliveries. It is always best to have one driver and a navigator. You are welcome to spend as little or as much time with each senior whom you deliver to. If no one is home, we have some phone numbers so you can call the individual or ask a neighbor if you can leave the bag with them since some items will need refrigeration. Undeliverable bags are re-delivered in the afternoon by me. Any questions, feel free to ask Club President Thapa or the coordinator for this event from our club Lion Nirmal Phuynel. We are very happy and excited to be to deliver food and provide some cheer in over 800 homes this year.”
