Meet and Greet event Of District 4-C3 Candidates 2017-2018 held on Sunday, 19 March 2017 in Rossmoor, Mt Diablo Room Hillside Clubhouse with the presence of most of the Lions Clubs of the Districts presence . The event was jointly organized by all three candidates of District 4-C3 . The event was for the candidates of District Governor Rajen Thapa, for 1st Vice District Governor Skip Zehnder and for 2nd Vice District Governor Charles “Duke” Dunham. All the three candidates welcomed and clearly presented their views on the event. All the Candidates were introduced by Past District Governors Garry Wong, Linda Griffin and Leo Macias. Rajen Thapa will be inducted as Centennial Governor in Chicago Lions International Convention. All the District Governor Elect has to attend The 2017 District Governors-Elect Seminar from June 28 – 30 in Chicago. The DGE Seminar provides leadership development training in a multicultural, multilingual setting, and allows participants the opportunity to gain awareness and understanding of the vast scope and diversity of Lions Clubs International.
The meet and greet program was followed by traditional and most sensational cultural heritage dances representing Nepalese Culture, Spanish Culture, English and Bollywood Hindi songs.
Bay area Nepalese Communities two popular choreographer and dancers Sangeeta Sharma and Bindu Sapkota performed special traditional dances from Nepal. Beside that there were couple of other dances performed by local artists. One of dedicated performance for all the three candidate was done by Lilyan and she had shared her thoughts about the event as ,” I had the most distinct honor to perform a dance based on my Spanish heritage at the Lions Meet and Greet event this past Sunday. Her performance in facebook was received 6,000 within two days. It was really great , here is the link of the dance;

The event started at 4:30 pm and concluded at 7 Pm with variety of performances, presentations, talks, foods , drinks and raffles. The program was coordinated by Laxmi Chaudhary Past President of Berkeley Annapurna and conducted by Al Satake, Dhruva Thapa and Pri Rijal simultaneously. The Raffles tickets and prizes were managed and announced by Bijaya Subedi Tandukar, First Vice President of Berkeley Makalu Lions Club. There were drinks and foods provided by local restaurants like Taste of the Himalayas, Himalayan Flavors, Crea Asian Taste of the Himalayas, Casa Azteca and Ajanta Restaurant located in various cities of Berkeley, San Leandro and Milpitas.
For nearly 100 years Melvin Jones founded the Club in Chicago and now it’s in more than 205 countries and geographical areas of the world conduct vision and health screenings, build parks, support eye hospitals, empower the disabled, assist youth, provide help in time of disasters and much more. Lions always work with a simple motto we serve , So far the clubs have impacted hundreds of millions of lives through vision related work like providing medicines, surgeries, eyeglasses and outfitting hospitals and eye banks.
On the event Rajen Thapa urged all the Lions members to attend once in a lifetime Centennial convention held in Chicago from June 30th to July 4th 2017. There will be District 4-C3 convention in Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada from May 18th to 21st 2017. So please attend the convention to mark 100 years service of Lions Clubs International.
