Rajen Thapa elected as Centennial District Governor of District 4 C-3 Lions Clubs.

on May 21st 2017 Lion Rajen Thapa was officially elected as the Centennial District Governor of District 4C-3 Lions Clubs. The Convention was held in the city of Reno at Grand Sierra Hotel. Governor elect Thapa is the Charter President of Lions Club of Berkeley Annapurna and First Nepalese American to be elected as District Governor Candidate out side Nepal. He is also honored to be elected as the Centennial District Governor of District 4C-3 and officially he will be sworn in the Lions Clubs International Convention held in Chicago on the weekend of July 4th 2017. In the International Convention he will be officially declared as Centennial District Governor in front of the delegates coming from more than 210 countries and the crowd of more than 3000 delegates, guests and invitees.

Lions around the world have been changing lives for 100 years through humanitarian service. This year Lions Clubs International is celebrating it’s hundred years of service. As part of the Centennial Celebration, Lions are working together to strengthen their clubs and communities through service. The District and International convention held every year in different location and parts of the world as per the majority vote of the lion’s delegates in previous convention. This year the district convention was held for four days starting from Thursday 18th May to 21st in the beautiful city Reno, Nevada. The four days long convention was concluded with the Election day and memorial Service to all the Lions who lost their lives and pray for their soul to rest in eternal peace.

Two years ago for the first time in the history of Lions Club of Berkeley Annapurna Lion Thapa was nominated and elected to lead the District as Second Vice District Governor in the same city and Hotel. Last year the convention was held in Middle town where he was elected as First Vice District Governor. Since last two years he has been serving the District as Second to first Vice District Governor and now elected as District Governor for the lion year 2017-2018 with positive and majority votes in the convention.

After the declaration of election result Lion Rajen Thapa addressed the convention and thanked everyone for being there and making the convention a grand success. He also thanked to all the past Presidents and Charter members of the Club and specially thanked to all the PDG of District and officers for trusting him and voting him to lead the District. He asked each and every of the convention to thank each other as it was not his victory but the entire Districts, so all have to celebrate the moment and plan for next hundred years’ journey. Since this year we are celebrating hundred years of Lions Clubs International. Then he expressed his utmost thanks to Lion Al Satake for being his Cabinet Secretary and asked him to announce the incoming cabinet officers name. Then Lion Al announced the names of incoming cabinets and urged them to make their tenure a most remarkable and asked to work collectively to achieve the mission and vision of the District Governor.

Governor Elect Rajen also thanked Tilak Sunar who is the campaign chair and past President of Berkeley Annapurna. He also thanked all the officers of various lions Clubs of the district for their support valuable input to make his journey a successful as District Governor and looking forward to work joining hand together with entire clubs of the District to achieve the milestone of Lions Clubs International.

He has been serving in the Lions Clubs International for more than two decades. His journey as a lion starts from Nepal back in his home town Itahari Nepal where he served as various posts including the president of Lions Club of Itahari, Sunsari, Nepal for the years of 1997–1998. .He served District 325-A Nepal of as the Zone Chair from 1998–1999 and Region Chair 2000–2001. Lion Rajen earned the respect of his fellow lions in Nepal and in USA. He is the pioneer to open most of the Nepalese Lions Clubs in the USA. Right now there are more than a dozens Nepalese lions club in USA and few more are ready to open soon. He served as charter president of the Lions Club of Berkeley Annapurna from 2006—2007. He has helped the club grow with training, service and inspiration. He is honest, dedicated and dynamic leader who believes in producing a galaxy of leaders. Even in the Convention he encouraged and invited Dr. Tika Lamsal to lead the workshop on District Governor’s theme “Leading Lions to excel followed by Dhruva Thapa and Al Satake. First of all, in the workshop Lion Rajen highlighted the concept of his theme and urged all the lions to follow the path of Lionism with a single motto we serve.

In his address he emphasized, If we all work together and believe in the leadership of our fellow lions and cabinet officers definitely we will be able to bring a refreshing and positive energy in the district. He always inspire and motivate others to lead rather than than to lead himself alone. He believes in collective efforts and team work.
